Petition to Utah Governor Huntsman, Attorney General Shurtleff and the Utah Congressional Delegation

We, the undersigned, do hereby state our opposition to the proposed 750 megawatt coal-fired power plant at Toquop, Nevada near the Utah border. We strongly encourage the development of non-polluting renewable energy sources to provide the proposed 750 megawatts. We hereby respectfully petition Utah Governor Huntsman, Attorney General Shurtleff and the Utah Congressional Delegation to engage all possible efforts to convince Nevada Governor Gibbons, the Nevada Congressional delegation, the Bureau of Land Management and the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection to reject a permit requested by Sithe Global Inc. for the Toquop Energy Project. Utah citizens do not need to be victimized by Nevada’s economic development.
